How clinical trials might fit into ambulatory infusion center businesses

Most AIC operators are familiar with the process new interventions go through to secure FDA marketing approval, but few participate directly in the research phase. Exploring the potential upside requires a clear understanding of the up-front costs and ongoing challenges of participating, either as a site or as a principal investigator.

Tennr is bringing together two operators from the AIC space to talk through their experiences. Kelly Lambrese RN, BSN of Suite Life Health & Wellness has conducted research from phase 1b through 4, and can speak to the ingredients of a successful clinical trial business. Lee Golden of TwelveStone is actively investing in incorporating research into their clinical operations.

This discussion will give AIC operators a window into the specific hurdles they would need to overcome logisitically and strategically, including budget negotiation, passing site feasibility and IRB approval processes, and preparing their staff to adhere to study protocols. Audience members can also expect to hear about the benefits of gaining experience with drugs before they are brought to market, stronger lines of communication with manufacturers, and a potentially lucrative additional stream of revenue.
